THE funeral of Peter Brown, who spent 28 years working at Yelverton Fire Station, is to take place tomorrow (Friday).

Peter joined the station as a fireman in 1960 and retired as sub officer in charge of the station in 1988.

In 1985 Peter was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) by the Queen which was presented by the then Lord Lieutenant of Devon the Rt Hon Earl of Morley at an award ceremony in Exeter.

Peter’s funeral will begin with a private family burial at Sheepstor Church and then at noon there will be a thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Church Yelverton.
