A FOUR-year-old girl, whom West Devon and East Cornwall residents helped to make her dream to return to Disneyland Paris come true, has lost her battle against cancer.
Local residents and the Daisychain giftshop in Tavistock helped to raise the £5,000 needed to take Kimberley and her family to Disneyland, after a previous visit had to be cut short when she became unwell.
This time Kimberly was able to enjoy it to the full and in August she was whisked off by helicopter to meet singing celebrity Peter Andre at Crealy Adventure Park.
The little girl was struck down with an aggressive form of childhood cancer at the age of 18 months. She had surgery to remove brain tumours and had to learn to walk and talk again. Her bravery throughout and ability to remain smiling endeared her to all who met her.
Sadly soon after her visit to see Peter Andre, scans revealed five new tumours, this time on Kimberley's spine.
Her mother, Valerie Blunt, said: 'She was a fighter and she always managed to smile, but she was often in pain from which she is now free, a happy release.
'We will never forget the wonderful treatment and care Kimberley had at the Children's Hospice South West (Charlton Farm) and the care and support from so many people which helped to keep our family strong. Thank you all so much.'
