ST PETER'S Primary School has been awarded a grant of £6,300 from the National Lottery's Awards for All board to develop a new £10,000 playpark — specially designed for older children.

The school's PTA has also supported the project with a £1,000 donation. The remaining funds have been sourced from external bodies following consultation work completed by the head teacher Clare Wesson and business manager Sue Gawman.

The play equipment will provide a challenging environment for junior children and includes a mix of climbing, balance, co-ordination and strength building.

The development also includes a stage area which children can use for performances and a special canopy for the newly developed Forest Schools woodland area.

Sue Gawman said: 'These new pieces of equipment have enhanced the beautiful grounds at St Peter's to provide a stimulating play environment for the children to enjoy for many years to come.'
