FREE activities for children and young people in West Devon are on offer this Easter.

Since summer 2008, the borough council has been using its £200,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund to provide free activities for hundreds of children across West Devon. More than 1,700 have enjoyed a wide range of activities so far.

This Easter, local groups have programmes of free fun-filled activities and events on offer.

Okehampton Community Recreation Association is running two OCRA Action Outreach Sport and Art sessions on Monday April 12, in Broadwoodkelly Village Hall from 10am to noon, and South Zeal Recreation Ground from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, for 6 to 16 year olds. The Princetown Opportunity for Play (POP) project, from the Higher Moorland Community Action (HMCA) Team, has five activities planned in Princetown.

There are two creative sessions — Super Hero Canvas on Tuesday April 6, from 1pm to 4pm and decorate your own wall clock on Wednesday April 7, also from 1pm to 4 pm, both at the Princetown Village Centre.

The following week, three more activities are on offer. Pony Power Tuesday on Tuesday April 13, mountain biking on Wednesday April 14 and Orienteering on Thursday April 15 all from 9.30am to 4pm.

The Tavistock Youth Café 'Playing Up' project has a bush skills event on Wednesday April 14 from noon to 5pm and archery and tree surfing on Friday April 16.
