HOT weather, crowds of people and a great atmosphere helped the 26th Robey Trust Steam Fair go with a bang in Tavistock on Sunday when attractions from vintage Bentleys and London buses, military vehicles and tractors to model railways kept everyone interested and happy.

The Mayor of West Devon Cllr John?Sheldon and the Deputy Mayor of Tavistock Cllr Philip Sanders arrived in a 1929 Rolls-Royce to open the steam fair.

There were four steam engines owned by the Robey Trust and two visiting steam engines and a Routemaster double decker. The Bentley Drivers’ Club brought an array of Bentleys and there was a 1907 Stanley steam car.

In The Wharf, there was a small display of model engineering, meccano models, and replicas of machinery and stationary engines, as well as the Plymouth ’G’ Scale Group, who had two model trains around the stage on tracks.

The Tamar and Tavy Gig Club brought along its rowing boat Ginette and there were displays from the Tavistock Woodturners and dancing from the Dartmoor Border Morris Dancers.

The Robey Trust expressed thanks to all the volunteers and crew who helped on the day and all the visitors and traders who made the event what it was.
