A FORMER Tavistock resident who has moved back into the area is hoping to start a friendship group for like-minded over-55s. Jean Chinn, who was born and brought up in Tavistock, said she wants to make a new start, meet new friends and take up new interests. Mrs Chinn said: ?I am hoping that like-minded folk would like to meet up for social evenings, days out, theatre outings and places of interest ? anything, in fact, that gets lonely people out and about and gives life a new meaning. ?I was visualising it could be a weekly thing ? there must be hundreds of people like me who have come back to the area for whatever reason and want a new focus to build on. ?I know there are lots of things I?d like to do, but doing them on your own is only half the pleasure and you don?t always want to do things with your family.? Mrs Chinn is hoping anyone, male or female, interested in getting together would give her a call. ?I know that there are clubs already in existence but these appear to be mainly for younger people ? mature folk too have a need for fun and company,? said Mrs Chinn, who can be contacted on 01579 371009.
