THE Friends of Okehampton Hospital have raised a total of £300 from their recent activities. Dee Young, the treasurer, announced at last month?s committee meeting that the amount had been raised after a coffee morning, participation in the Bridestowe Ram Roast and Flag Day. Members also learnt the officers had met the estates department of the Primary Healthcare Trust to discuss the future of the garden at the hospital. It was resolved that committee members plus the Okehampton Rangers would get together to replant and renovate the garden later this month. The annual draw was proceeding and a record sale of tickets looked in prospect. But Mrs Young said the draw is on November 18 at the Multi Charity Event in the Charter Hall rather than a week earlier. Members were told the garden furniture had arrived and patients had been able to enjoy the Indian summer in September. Although nine new members had just been recruited the committee was still anxious for members to help, whether as passive supporters or with fundraising and assisting with the weekly trolley service to patients.
