Bodmin Seconds 15

IN this so-called friendly spectators witnessed a bed tempered match.

It started innocuously and for the first quarter was evenly matched.

Then North Tawton stepped up a gear and began some good rugby, with possession supplied in the loose to the forwards. The backs began to run at the opposition.

The ball was released by scrum half Malc Fewings to Danny North who broke through to winger David Quick. With a good run and a lot of strength he went over the visitors' try-line for a well worked try.

It looked as if North Tawton would walk the match, but from then on Bodmin played a hard physical game up front and the home side seemed to lose composure.

Bodmin benefited from this indiscipline and scored a try quickly followed by an unconverted one.

North Tawton's grip on the game continued to loosen and on the stroke of half time Bodmin's centre wriggled through for a converted try to leave the score at 15-5 to the visitors.

The second half continued in the same manner so it was no surprise when four yellow cards were issued, two for each side.

North Tawton scored a push-over try, well taken by Paul Ayris, and converted by captain and outside left Joe Fewings.

The game ended on an exciting note and a last minute penalty. Joe Fewings put the sides level, all things considered a fair result.

l North Tawton are home to Buckfastleigh this Saturday, kick-off 2.30pm — come on down.
