MILTON Combe Judo Club was visited for the second time by Kiai Club, Brest, recently — and the French visitors were greeted by rain . . . and more rain.
Secretary of the Milton Combe club Elaine Stansbury said that despite the weather all the planned events took place and the weekend was enjoyed by everyone.
After arriving at Plymouth Ferry Port on Friday, May 17, the young visitors and their coach, Youenn Le Treut, were taken to their host families.
There was a junior judo session in the village hall on the Saturday morning and a senior one in the afternoon, with the day ending with a barbecue in the hall and musical entertainment by Speak Easy.
The judoists transferred to Tavistock College for the Sunday sessions, when they were joined by some of the Devon squad.
There was a buffet at the Who'd Have Though It in the evening and the youngsters left on Monday afternoon.
