I WAS delighted by Jane Honey's article on the back page of the Times (March 14). Lisa Wadling is to be congratulated on her sensible survey of independent shops and their prices, compared to those in the supermarkets.

One of the most helpful things to date is the current free parking in the multi-storey car park on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until 11am. This enables me to do all my shopping in town at a reasonable pace and no extra cost. I do hope it will continue after the trial period.

Unfortunately, it was not well advertised and the notices on the machines have been missed by most of my friends!
