AN OKEHAMPTON man set out on a historic walk to Cranmere Pool on Dartmoor recently to mark 75 years of walking on Dartmoor.
Fred Barlow, now 80, first made this trek as a young boy in 1928.
Fred has maintained this association with Dartmoor all his life. In addition to being president of the North Moor section of the Dartmoor Rescue Group based in Okehampton, he originally helped set up Dartmoor Rescue in 1968.
Fred has been awarded the BEM for his long and distinguished service in the rescue of the lost and injured from the moor.
Fred was accompanied on the walk by several members of the group.
