Tavistock Ladies 1st XI 4 Paignton 2nd XI 1 SUSANNAH Boulle, Laura Stapleton and Fiona Dunn were a formidable trio through midfield and defence and the opposition could not break through. When the ball was spread out wide the running play of Laura Armstrong was strong and she was able to take the ball past most of the defence. A good cross in from Jo Gaspar allowed Armstrong to secure the first goal of the match with a hefty strike past the keeper. Paignton were hungry for revenge and with an early break from the left hand side of the pitch the score was equalised 1-1. Lisa Butler continued to play well and with Robynne Honey running her socks off on the pitch, these two players linked the ball with Gaspar and Stapleton. Judy Miller ran numerous players off the ball and was then able to pass to Armstrong who was loitering in the ?D?. A short corner was awarded to Tavistock and a strong strike from Gaspar with Armstrong just catching the end of the ball pushed the score to 2-1. Again the opposition came back hard and would have equalised if it had not been for the superb play of goalkeeper, Zoe Viggers, who made some cracking saves. Tavistock, now recovered from a shaky start, were definitely looking the stronger team. Honey and Miller were feeding some good balls into the ?D? and were using the midfield play of Butler and White to drop the ball back when no shot on goal was apparent. With the ball in the ?D? it was only minutes before Armstrong had possession and scored her hat trick of the match. The score at half-time was 3-1 All the players were much more confident in the second half. The passes were made well and the ball was being distributed cleanly over the pitch. This was perfect for Armstrong as she was able to score her fourth goal of the match. This week Tavistock play United Services at Bull Point at 10.30am. Player of The Match: Zoe Viggers.
