TAVISTOCK Sir Francis Drake Bowling Club men?s and mixed teams played four games during the past week and won them all.

Sunday?s home fixture against Wadebridge resulted in a clean sweep when they won all five rinks played to achieve a 122-91 victory.

Skip Malcolm Bloomer and his team of Valerie Southern, Barry Chappell and Shirley Blackburn left it to the last minute before picking up the five shots that turned a losing 17-20 scoreline into a 22-20 win.

Skip Norman Paramor and his squad of George Blackburn, Henry Lovell and Clifford Hicks won 22-17, while skip Pat Sykes led his team of Brian Preece, Wendy Bloomer and Marlene Paramor to a 25-13

victory.

Skip Marion Allen and her team of Tony Coombs, Joan Northey and Ernie Piper won 27-21 and skip Mike Allen achieved a 26-20 win with the help of Hazel Lovell, Gordon Northey and David Perry.

Tuesday?s visit by a Plymouth Sir Francis Drake mixed team was the first mixed match between the two clubs as only recently have lady members been admitted to the Plymouth club.

The match ended with a 98-86 win for the Tavistock mixed team, who won three of the five rinks played. Skip Marion Allen led her team of Derek Bradford, Peter Holland and Ray Moore to a 20-19 win, thanks to them picking up four shots on the last end of the game.

Mike Allen and his squad of Gill Saunders, George Blackburn and Clifford Hicks, won 27-13, and skip Der Saunders led his team of Tony Coombs, Joan Northey and Frank Welch to a 21-12 win, but skips Stuart Doidge (15-18) and Roy Northam (15-19), both led losing teams.

Wednesday?s men?s evening league match against Dean Cross saw Tavistock men complete the double. Having already won the away fixture 76-72 in July, Tavistock succeeded in exceeding their away performance by winning 86-66 at home.

Skip Mike Allen led his team of Pat Sykes, Derek Bradford and Tony Coombs to a 23-15 victory while skip Roy Northam and his crew of John Smith, Gordon Northey and David Perry won 20-15.

Skip Eric Stevens led his team of Norman Paramor, Wallace Northey and Ernie Piper to a 23-16 victory and skip Malcolm Bloomer and his squad of Der Saunders, Bill Ashe and Brian Preece, fought out a 20-20 draw game.

Saturday?s home match against Teignmouth ended in an overwhelming 147-60 win for the Tavistock team, who won all five rinks played.

Skip Clive Jago and his team of Eric Stevens, Wallace Northey and Ernie Piper won 28-12, while skip Malcolm Bloomer led his squad of Gordon Northey, Albert Townsend and Ann Brown to a 29-13 win. Skip Norman Paramor and his team of Ron Cooper, Joan Northey and Brian Preece achieved a 29-11 victory and skip Bob Bowhay led his team of Valerie Southern, Tony Coombs and Ray Moore to a crushing 36-8 victory.

The fifth rink led by skip Jill Lacayo with her squad of Der Sanders, Barry Chappell and Jane Eslick achieved a 25-16 winning scoreline.

The ladies? section two rink league away match against Yealmpton ended up even when skip Marion Allen won her rink, and skip Yvonne Meneer saw her rink lose.

Friday?s three rink friendly match at Bere Alston saw Tavistock skips Marion Allen and Yvonne Meneer both lead winning teams, while skip Gill Saunders saw her team lose.
