HATHERLEIGH's hugely successful music and arts festival returns to the town for its 15th year this summer.
The festival, between July 22 and 25, will provide four days of street performances, music, workshops, and exhibitions.
A spokesperson for the event said: 'Hatherleigh Festival was set up to bring new and exciting experiences to the local community, so we try to keep the events as keenly priced as possible — many of them are free!
'Our fantastic music line up for the town square marquee includes The Loose Salute, The Hot Tone Rhythm Boys, The FOS Brothers, Douglas E Powell and Central Casting, Nicola Clark, Pavlov and Eat the Rich.
'The street market, again in the square, brings a wealth of crafts including unique jewellery, handmade glass, basket wear, floral creations and our quality eats gazebo from lunchtime Saturday onwards, with pig roast, BBQ, crepes, fresh fruit cups, and creative cupcakes, with the local public houses only strides away.'
During the festival, there will be artists from all over the region exhibiting at various locations in the town. There will be workshops on Saturday including Salsa dancing, pro football coaching, portrait sketching, ukelele playing, street dance and also new for this year is the festival bookclub.
Visitors to the festival can pick up a free loan copy of Jane Feavers new book 'love me tender', read and return it, then come along on the Saturday and discuss it with the author.
Friday night sees the 'Ultimate Madness' coming to the festival at the community centre.
The spokesperson said: 'The performance is delivered at a blistering pace with a few ska classics thrown in by The Specials and Bad Manners.
'The group has only one thing on their mind when they go on stage and that is to create the ultimate ska party, refreshing the nutty parts other Madness tributes cannot reach.'
On Sunday there will be a combined church service including Callington Gospel Choir and a recital by local organist Roger Cleverdon.
Closing this year's festival will be David Bensons classic one-man show, 'Think No Evil of Us: My Life With Kenneth Williams', which unlocks the character of one of Britain's best-loved and most-missed entertainers.
David Benson's uncanny impersonation was performed in the acclaimed BBC Radio 4 series, 'The Private World of Kenneth Williams'.
David Benson has written and will perform this semi-autobiographical show which also reveals how David's unusual childhood led to an extraordinary connection with the Carry On star.
Tickets for the workshops, Ultimate Madness and David Benson are available now by calling the box office on 01837 810624
