CHILDREN at Lew Trenchard School were delighted to find they had a new play area when they returned to school after the summer holidays.

The existing tyre park was extended to include a hanging-plank bridge and monkey bars. This has given the children a larger soft-surfaced play area which can be used when the field is too wet to play on.

Pupils of all ages have been enthusiastic about the new resource, which builds on the school's commitment to fresh air, exercise and healthy living.

The school expressed thanks to the Friends of Lew Trenchard for raising the bulk of the funds needed, but a significant contribution also came from a massive jumble sale organised by one of the mealtime assistants, Kay Roberts.

Kay, who attended Lew Trenchard School as a young girl, was delighted to help make the children's school life even more enjoyable. She continues to give extremely long service to a variety of schools because she loves being active and helpful.
