A POPULAR family in Bridestowe received the good wishes of villagers on Saturday in recognition of all their work at the local post office and stores.
Chris and Alex Heron and their children, Aimee and Sam, are leaving Riverside Stores later this month after almost three years because of Mr Heron's ill health.
The Rev David Webber presented the couple with £415 collected in the village. He said their departure would be a sad loss to Bridestowe and expressed best wishes for their future.
While in Bridestowe, the couple introduced many innovative features and services at the stores, including a tea room and bike hire.
Mr and Mrs Heron said they had made many good friends in the village and were grateful for the support they had received. The couple hope to return to the village, from their new home in Okehampton, to join in some of its activities.
The new owners of the village stores will be Richard and Naomi Nardi from Harrow.
