POPULAR North Tawton based ?indie folk rock? band ?Hannah and the Madding Crowd? are to make a comeback following the birth of lead singer Hannah Power?s second baby. The band, who last played at the Sidmouth Folk Festival in August just days before the baby was due, resume their live performances with an appearance at Jack Cham?s Lounge Bar in West Street Tavistock on Thursday January 19. The band, whose previous appearances have included the Glastonbury Festival, have used the enforced time off from performing to work on writing some new songs which will feature on their forthcoming CD. They will be performing their new compositions for the first time in public at the Jack Cham?s gig. The band play an eclectic mix of music, mostly their own compositions. They draw heavily on the local folk tradition for their musical inspiration, combining this with contemporary rock influences. The band comprises: Hannah Power (lead vocals), her husband Phil Power (guitar and vocals), and her father, Graham Crocker (guitar, mandolin and vocals).
