THIS year?s Tavistock Children?s Folk Dance Festival sees a change in venue, with a move to Tavistock College. Held on Saturday, May 6, children from all over the Tavistock area will be visiting the event. Tavistock Lions Club Keith Penney said it was hoped the move from the pannier market to the college would provide a much larger space for the dancing and ease of parking for parents and supporters, which had always been a problem in the past. Pupils from schools in Delaware, Buckland Monachorum and Mary Tavy will be participating, as well as Mount House, St Peter?s, Whitchurch, St Rumon?s and Tavistock County Primary. Each school will be performing a folk dance chosen by themselves as well as participating in other dances where everyone can take part. Doors will open at 9am, with dancing lasting from 9.30am to 1pm. Refreshments will be available and there will be a number of charity stalls. This is the third year the Lions Club has been involved in organising the event ? which itself is in its 27th year ? and it is hoped adults attending will make a donation to help with the cost of staging it.
