ROADFORD Lake Sailing Club hosted its second race of the season on a beautiful sunny Easter Sunday. Twenty four club members took part in two races in a variety of craft from RS700 to Topper dinghies.
Race one began in light winds and saw the lead changing hands several times as sailors sought to secure the best position on the lake.
First place was eventually taken by Geoff Shaw.
As the breeze picked up and the competitive spirit kicked in, race two began, but not before an individual recall for three boats that crossed the line ahead of the gun.
Almost the whole fleet arrived at the first mark at the same time, resulting in several shouted protests and penalty turns.
The wind was something of a lottery throughout, but youth triumphed over experience as Topper sailor and Roadford Watersports Centre junior club member Alex Hutchings took first place.
David Harkner was narrowly beaten into second with fellow Junior Club member Luke Stitson in third.
The next race will take place next Sunday at 11.30am.
Visiting crews are most welcome.
