CHERITON Flyers played Spitfires in a close game on February 1 in the Okehampton Ladies? Netball League. Spitfires are having an excellent season and their shooting was excellent. Their defence held strong and Cheriton seemed unable to break them down but they fought to the end. The final score finished Cheriton 27, Spitfires 50. Players of the match went to Liz Ash and Suzanne Johnson for Spitfires and Katie Chaffey for Cheriton. Speedwells played Dodgers in another very close game. Speedwells were unfortunate to lose a player due to injury in the first five minutes which put pressure on the team, however they rose to the challenge and played an excellent game. Dodgers managed to keep up but just could not keep going and the final score was Speedwells 41 Dodgers 38. Players of the match were Beth Pengelly for Speedwells and Ali Keenor for Dodgers. Shooting Starz played league newcomers Ladybirds who have continued to improve throughout the season. Shooting Starz were difficult to stop due to excellent shooting. The final score was Shooting Starz 39, Ladybirds 21. Players of the match were Vicki Stevens for Shooting Starz and Lyn Murphy for Ladybirds.
