THE Tavistock heat of the Fly Fishing Charity Challenge 2004 on Sunday, September 5 has raised £2,318 so far, with more still to come in.

The challenge was organised in aid of Vranch House School and Centre, for children with cerebral palsy and all children with physical difficulties. Anglers have until September 27 to get their funds in.

Mike Rowe from Drewsteignton won team second best bag with team-mate John Taylor from Dorset, with five fish for 17lb 14oz 6dr.

Doug Carpenter from Gulworthy won team third best bag with colleague Paul Clark of Pensilva, with five fish for 16lb 3oz 8dr.

Both teams, together with the winning team, go through to one of the semi finals in September.

Mike Rowe also raised the most money, £471, bringing his total over the last five years to £5,500.
