SOURTON is holding its first flower festival later this month to raise funds for essential repairs to the village church.

Organisers are hoping to raise funds towards the £11,000 for roof, drainpipes and leadwork repairs More repairs to the tower and improvements to the heating system are also a longer term aim.

The flower festival will be held at Sourton Church, opening on Friday, June 27, with the theme ?All things bright and beautiful?.

Opening times throughout the weekend are as follows: Friday, between 2-6pm, Saturday, between 10am-7pm and Sunday, between 11am-6pm.

Flower arrangements by members of Sourton Church, the Northmoor team and Okehampton Flower Club will be on display, and light refreshments will be served in the hall.

On Saturday, June 28, the village is holding a country fair which will be opened at 2pm by Mayor of Okehampton Christine Marsh. On Sunday afternoon (June 29) a family walk around the parish is being held.
