PETER Tavy church, chapel and village hall are preparing to welcome visitors for its four-yearly flower festival. The event, under the theme 'If music be the food of love', takes place from Friday, July 11 until Sunday, July 13. In St Peter's Church, floral displays will pick up a broad range of musical styles from disco to the orchestra and hymns to musicals. Displays will greet visitors as they pass through the Lych Gate and make their way up the path to the church. The festival will show the work of many individual flower arrangers, together with the Minnows mother and toddler group and the junior church. After viewing the flowers, visitors can enjoy refreshments served in the Methodist chapel, where morning coffee, light lunches and afternoon teas will be available during the day. Alongside the floral displays, visitors will also be able to look around an exhibition looking at aspects of the history of Peter Tavy in the village hall. The festival concludes with a special 'Songs of Praise' service at the church on Sunday evening at 6.30pm. A spokesman for the event organisers said: 'Peter Tavy's last flower festival was a great success, enjoyed by everyone who came along — so the village looks forward to welcoming plenty of visitors back to this year's event.' The festival is open on Friday and Saturday from 10.30am to 6.30pm and on Sunday from 10.30am to 6pm.
