A TAVISTOCK business is bidding to become one of the nation?s top florist shops, having achieved an excellence award in round one of the challenge. The National Flower Shop of the Year Awards is the biggest awards ceremony in the industry ? and Randell Cox Floral Design of West Street is going all out to win the gold and £5,000 to invest in its business. To achieve the silver award in round one, the company had to demonstrate knowledge, expertise and understanding in several key areas: floristry skills, shop layout, customer service and business management. Staff will now face mystery shoppers and mystery telephone calls. Owner Tim Randall said: ?The whole team is really chuffed to have got this far, the questions were pretty tough and it?s really motivating to know we are getting most things right.? Joint owner Amanda Randell said: ?Someone has to win the prizes, there?s no reason why is shouldn?t be us so it?s full steam ahead for the gold award ? we are really going to give it our best shot now we have got this far.?
