DARTMOOR National Park Authority has approved floodlighting for two courts at Yelverton Tennis Club on the condition that they are switched off by 10pm.

The proposal, which provoked seven letters of objection from nearby residents concerned about light and noise pollution, involved erecting 12 floodlighting columns to light courts two and three.

Lighting engineers at Devon County Council said the scheme was designed to create a minimum of light pollution for the standard of

lighting the club wanted.

In response to local concerns, Dartmoor National Park Authority officers recommended that a condition be imposed to ensure that the lights were only used between dusk and 10pm and this was agreed by the planning committee.
