THE new Okehampton Skate Park at Brayhams Terrace proved its worth last weekend as it hosted the Okehampton Skate Jam.

The skate jam saw skaters, and scooter and BMX riders enjoy sessions and competitions throughout the day on Saturday.

Last year the skate park was completely revamped, with a series of new ramps, stairs, down-rails and other skating equipment.

A team of youngsters called the Okehampton Skate Group worked hard to bring the new skate plaza into existence, helping with design and fundraising. The design allows skaters of varying abilities to take part in events like the skate jam, and improve their skills as they practice at the park.
