Edgecumbe 0
Lamerton 3
LAMERTON travelled to picturesque Edgecumbe to resume their league action. They had the better of the earlier exchanges, with Kev Fedrick twice coming close with headers, before Steve Wickett beat the keeper from inside the box following a right wing cross from Paul Cowling.
Minutes later it was almost two when from a Panda Williams cut-back Kev Swift hit a superb volley which crashed into the crossbar. But Edgecumbe came more into the game and were on top when the half-time whistle came with Lamerton looking ragged.
The second half began with the home side pressing forward and only a couple of good saves from Pete Daniel kept Lamerton in front.
The pressure was eased when Sean Cann found Wickett in the box and he coolly chipped the keeper to double the advantage.
The game was made safe in the last five minutes when Pete Moyse scored from close range to give a scoreline which somewhat flattered the visitors.
A big plus for Lamerton was the defence which kept a third successive clean sheet with Tim Lyle positive in the centre and Grahame Cole back to his best form.
This weekend sees Lamerton away at Calstock in the Divisional Cup quarter-final on Saturday and on Sunday home to St Dominick in the Chairman?s Cup. Both matches kick off at 2pm.
