TAVISTOCK Bowling Club?s men?s and mixed teams completed a nap hand in their league and friendly games during the week, playing five games and winning them all.

The men?s league match, away to a Plymouth Police team, ended in a comprehensive 93-68 victory for the Tavistock men, who won three of the four rinks played.

Skip Mike Allen and his team of Pat Sykes, Derek Bradford and David Perry won 31-17, with the opposition scoring nine shots in the first five ends, then failing to register a score on ten of the remaining 16 ends.

Skip Eric Stevens and his team of Norman Paramor, Clive Jago and Ernie Piper ran out 20-12 winners, while skip Roy Northam led his team of Colin Tremaine, Geoff Cork and Sandy Sanders to a 26-13 victory.

Skip Malcolm Bloomer and his team of Der Saunders, Brian Preece and Bill Ashe, playing in his first league match for the club, lost 17-26.

Wednesday saw a mixed team travel to Chagford for a four-rink mixed triples match which Tavistock won 71-56, thanks to them winning three of the four rinks played.

Skip Ray Meneer led his team of George and Shirley Blackburn to a 22-12 victory while skip John Smith, supported by Bill Ashe and Ray Moore, won 16-13.

Skip Jill Lacayo and her crew of David Perry and Brian Preece picked up five shot wins twice during the course of their 21-13 victory. Skip Betty Browse and her team of Barry Chappell and Lauri Smith were Tavistock?s only losers, going down 18-12.

Friday?s visitors were a five-rink team from Paignton who travelled home at the end of the day having been soundly beaten, 129-62, by a strong Tavistock team.

Skip Roy Northam and his squad of Walter Meek, Albert Townsend and Jenny Aldridge ran out 33-6 winners, while skip Sandy Sanders and his team of Brian Preece, Joan Northey and Ian Mellor achieved a 35-11 victory.

John Smith led his crew of Jill Lacayo, Wallace Northey and Clifford Hicks to a 25-15 win and skip Stuart Doidge won 21-15 thanks to his team of Ron Cooper, Val Southern and Barry Chappell.

Skip Betty Browse and her team of Norman Paramor, Henry Lovell and George Blackburn fought out a 15-15 drawn game.

Saturday?s visitors were a team of five rinks from Ipplepen, who gave Tavistock run for their money when winning two of the five rinks, but finished the day having lost the match 80-97.

Tavistock skip Rob Bowhay led his team of Derek Bradford, Joan Solly and Lauri Smith to a 17-13 win, while skip Ron Cooper and his team of Norman Paramor, Joan Northey and Brian Preece achieved a remarkable 38-6 winning score after the opposition managed to score on only four ends of the game.

Skip Colin Tremaine and his crew of Gill Saunders, George Blackburn and Jenny Aldridge achieved a one shot 15-14 victory by picking up the one winning shot on the last end of the game. Tavistock skips Roy Northam (15-25) and Betty Browse (12-20) both led losing teams.

The ladies? section had a less successful week, losing both of their three rink games.

They lost both league rinks against Plymouth Sir Francis Drake ladies, but won the friendly rink played alongside and had a similar result against the Elizabethans? team when skip Yvonne Meneer led a winning league rink, while the other league rink and the friendly rink both lost.
