ORGANISERS of the Sticklepath Fireshow are on the lookout for new committee members and volunteers to make sure this year's show can go ahead.
There was a surge of local support last year to ensure the 30th anniversary of the fireshow could go ahead in 2014.
The 2013 event was cancelled following a number of difficulties throughout the year — but the team which had been behind previous shows worked hard to bring the event back to Sticklepath.
Now more core people have retired from the fireshow committee after many years of service, the committee is looking to find people to help organise the event.
Becci Hardie from the organising committee said: 'The fireshow needs people willing to donate their time and skills to bring the show to life.
'There are so many potential tasks involved —from creating giant puppets or singing songs for the soundtrack, to creating posters, organising wood collection or sewing costumes.
'You don't need these skills already, just a willingness to get involved and meet new people — even if you just have a little time, we always need people to act as marshals and make cups of tea.
'By volunteering for the fireshow, you can develop skills and experience to add that little extra to your CV — and make all the difference in today's job market.
'With committee and volunteer roles in PR and marketing, health and safety, costume design and creation, set design and building, script writing and project management, volun-teering with Sticklepath Fireshow is a great way to demonstrate or build upon your experience and make yourself stand out from the rest.'
The committee would also like to invite back those individuals who have been involved in the fireshow over the last 30 or so years so that they can be part of the November 5 celebrations and pass some of their wisdom to new members of the team.
If you are interested in getting involved, the Sticklepath Fireshow general meeting takes place on Thursday, April 16 at 7.30pm in the Phoenix room at the King's Arms, South Zeal.
