A CASH boost of £5,000 from the Countryside Agency which will enable a series of blue plaques to be erected on historic buildings in Tavistock was welcomed by councillors at a meeting in the town last week. Members of the town council?s finance committee were told the money needs to be spent before March 31. Tavistock town clerk Roger Howard said he already had a list of 50 or 60 addresses where plaques could be fixed. ?We have worked very closely with the local history society who have provided a list,? said Col Howard. He told the committee a joint Listed building consent application was presently being considered by the borough council and a ?master plaque? was being produced for approval. Around 20 plaques should be fixed on various buildings of interest around Tavistock during the next twelve months.
