I HAD to drive to Exeter last Wednesday. The cheapest petrol I could find in Okehampton was 84.9p per litre. On arriving at Exeter I found my car to be one quarter full of fuel. I filled it with 36 litres at 78.9p per litre, thus achieving a saving of £2.16, plus, of course, parking free in the local supermarket car park. Had my vehicle been virtually empty or bigger the saving would have been substantially larger. This lower price is probably on offer at Tavistock and Launceston. If Okehampton wants to compete it must do something about the quite unjustified price of fuel in the town, or is this the price consumers must pay for not having an out-of-town supermarket with low price fuel and free parking?
