THE spectacular roots-rock band Bluehorses makes a welcome return to The Wharf in Tavistock next week ? and introduces a superb new line-up to their many fans.
The band, pictured left, continues to be fronted by lead singer Liz Prendergast with her electric fiddle, electric-Celtic harp and space mandolin and led by co-founder and songwriter Nic Walker on drums.
Multi-instrumentalist Neil Browning joined the band in the autumn of 2001 on guitar, squeezebox, keyboards, banjo and bazouki, taking Bluehorses? music to new heights and directions.
Joining Liz as second fiddle at the start of last year?s festival season, Mark Knight has wowed audiences with his virtuoso electric violin playing ? and just to keep it in the family, Nic brings in Nathan Waulker on bass guitar.
Nathan previously toured with his own band, playing festivals throughout Eastern Europe.
Bluehorses have spent much of the last seven years on the road, honing their performing and songwriting skills and stunning festival audiences from Spain to Scandinavia and even the Orkney Isles, appearing with bands as diverse as the Levellers, Hawkwind and Oysterband.
The band?s music is a real hybrid, combining true Celtic roots with an eclectic mix of contemporary rhythms, classic rock and thoughtful, witty lyrics.
Their live shows are filled with passion, intensity, flair and fun which has built a large and loyal fanbase who trail them around Europe and the UK.
Regularly selling out venues, the band?s wonderfully danceable set gets feet to the floor and sends audiences home hot and happy!
Bluehorses have featured on radio, TV shows and magazines around the world, including the front cover of Froots, the premier UK and international bible for all things rootsy!
Powerfully melodic and compelling to watch, Bluehorses will feature tracks from their MOJO album of the month ?Dragons Milk and Coal? and their latest and critically acclaimed ?Ten Leagues Beyond the Wild Worlds End? when they appear at The Wharf on Saturday March 22.
Tickets are £6/£7 on the door, box office on 01822 611166.
