CELEBRATING its 15th year with some great events is the Calstock Festival with a week of entertainment starting tomorrow.
The opening night gig is the acclaimed acoustic duo Show of Hands who are guaranteed to enthral their audience with among other items songs from their brilliant Country Life album.
Formidable operators in the roots arena this Devon-based musical powerhouse of Phil Beer and Steve Knightly are currently touring the festival circuits. They have been likened to U2, and in the case of songwriter Steve Knightly, Bruce Springsteen.
Saturday is festival day and will be opened by BBC Radio 2 presenter Bob Harris.
The day features music, open air market and family entertainment.
A gig by Seize the Day will take place in Calstock Village Hall and at the Peterloo Poets Hall there will be a chance to listen to BBC?s Bob Harris and music from Judie Tzuke.
Tuesday sees local group Misbehaving create some infectious jazz,
Later in the week there is a classical night on Wednesday with the Kit Family. On Thursday Flamenco dancer Mercedes Romero promises to give a dazzling treaditional performance in an evening that comes complete with food. For those who like their music with a rich and funky dance set, there is the festival finale on Friday June 4 with Baby Head.
Ther is an art exhibition which takes centre stage during the week and features work from artists around the Tamar Valley.
It opens at 7pm on Bank Holiday Monday, running throuth to Thursday lunchtime.
There will be a unique range of workshops will run throughout the week.
These will feature a wide selection of activities for both adults and children alike.
Calstock Festival has always been about people having ideas and wanting to see things happen. It has become a calendar in South East Cornwall.
The excitement and enthusiasm that followed the building of the village hall has set the mood for 15 years of festivity.
