A COLOURFUL procession through the streets of Callington heralded the start of the Callington Festival Week as crowds poured into the town centre to cheer on floats and walkers in the carnival.
Boasting the biggest number of entries since the carnival was revived three years ago, all participants gathered in the Saltash Road Recreation Ground where they were judged by BBC newsreader George Alagiah, who lives locally.
Winner of the floats was the Callington Bellydancers with 'Slumdog Millionaire' and the top walking entry was 'The Wedding Singer' by Primraf Theatre with the cake taking centre stage.
The Lions' Club Gala Day and entertainment after the procession kept revellers in the town all day, and the vintage car rally at Polhilsa on Sunday proved popular once again.
Tonight (Thursday) sees the Callington Community Gospel Choir in concert, with the afternoon tea dance, Mad Hatter's Tea Party, American theme night and Tamar Valley Male Voice Choir all to come.
