TAVISTOCK played host to 16 under 10 teams from all over Devon at Sandy Park on Sunday.
A great day?s rugby was enjoyed by all, thanks to the hard work of all the coaches, committee members and catering staff who gave their time to make the festival a success.
Tavistock U10s 0
Devomport U10s 20
TAVISTOCK played three games in their group, the first against the eventual winners of the tournament, Devonport Services.
For most of the first half Tavistock held Devonport and created some good openings, only conceding one try in the half.
Devonport?s fast open running game was very effective after the turn round and they scored three more times.
Tavistock U10s 5
Kingsbridge U10 s 10
THE second game was a much closer fought engagement with Tavistock having a lot of the possession. Both of the Kingsbridge tries were from breaks by the same player from deep in defence.
Scrum half Rhys Dunford scored for the home side with his signature twisting run.

Teignmouth U10s 5
THE local boys found their stride by the third match with an excellent performance from forwards and backs.

The squad for the day consisted of Cameron Hogg, Elliot Hoyte, Elliott Northmore, Jack Haigh, Joe Hair, Joshua Leeson, Joshua Stephens, Mark Friend, Philip Snell, Nathan Alford, Rhys Dunford, Barnaby Frost and George Harold.

Okehampton U13s 32
Tavistock U13s 0
EARLY exchanges in this West Devon derby were evenly contested.
The game settled into a pattern with the Okehampton forwards gaining the upper hand in the rucks. The pick up and drive game began to pay dividends with Phil Harding, Matt Stratton, Richard Burrington and Paul Thomas all gaining the hard yards.
From a penalty in midfield, scrum half John Radnor took a quick tap to gain valuable ground putting the Okes into a promising attacking position. From a lineout the Okehampton forwards drove towards the Tavistock line where well worked ruck ball saw fly half Rob North go down the blind side to feed winger Rob Fishliegh who broke through the gap to score his first try for the club.
Tavistock always looked dangerous on the break, but good defence in midfield where Mossman, Veal and Wawman all excelled, forced the visitors into errors from which the Okes capitalised to gain ground. A lineout five metres out saw lock Phil Harding outwit the defence to steal the ball and dive over for the Okes? second try.
This was quickly followed with more pressure play that saw prop Paul Thomas crash his way over the line in an unstoppable run from ten metres out to score a try that brought the half-time score to 15-0.
With the benefit of a strong wind behind them the Okes looked to assert themselves early in the second half. Phil Harding broke from a maul to outstrip the defence to score his second try.
Tavistock came back and some errors allowed the home side to clear their lines with excellent kicking from fly half and captain Rob North.
The Okes? forwards, especially Wonnacott and scrum half Radnor, continued to gain ground. After two phases of loose play the ball was spun out to the backs and with quick hands Josh Mossman made the break which the supporting North was able to continue. His perfectly timed pass to Rob Fishliegh saw the winger score a real team play try.
From the restart the Okes quickly took the ball down field and after a passage of forward play in which Phil Harding was consistently involved, the hard running lock burst through several tackles to score a try that brought his hat-trick. North converted.
Man of the match : Rob Fishleigh.
This SundayOkehampton meet Plymstock at North Tawton RFC.
Sidmouth U14s 10
Tavistock U14s 10
TAVISTOCK came to this match expecting to win - despite the 14-0 reverse in the autumn - and so felt disappointed with the drawn result.
The first half was evenly matched with initial pressure by the home side being absorbed by solid, if occasionally desperate defending. Tavistock pressed attacks of their own but these often faltered through loose passes or indecision. Towards the end of the half a good string of passes along the backs saw Ramone clear to touch down in the corner. Sidmouth levelled just before the break.
The second half was dominated by Tavistock with excellent breaks by the forwards, and some lovely passages of play from the backs where Ewing and Whiteford ran with great confidence, the latter breaking through for a well deserved try.
It looked as if Tavistock were going to run up a big score but Sidmouth regrouped, defended then managed a breakaway try to again level the scores.
