Heather Fell, Olympic modern pentathlete silver medalist, writes about her life 'on and off' the track.

I'm driving home for Christmas — I've been singing that song for the last week (don't worry only quietly to myself!). This was the tune I had on my mind as I'm so excited to be heading back to Devon at last. Being in Bath for almost a month at one time is a long stretch for a home girl like me, but with all the competitions there it made sense and training seems to be going well.

I think friends and family have made the most of my time in Bath too and I attempted to host my first mini supper party. With a small amount of improvising I managed to cook a three-course meal for four of us and we all survived! However, one of my friends did comment on the amount of pink in my flat and then presumed that the 'white' sauce was pink intentionally.

It feels like I've broken up for school; we finished our term off with a pentathlon Christmas party after a long weekend of full competition. Seasons greetings have been wished, presents exchanged and our kit packed up, but don't let this lull you into thinking I'm putting my feet up over the festive period! I'm looking forward to hitting the hills of Dartmoor and getting back in the pool at Kelly College — even if it is only to burn off some of those calories I intend to consume.

I may not be resting my body over the festive period but my brain is certainly shutting down. This last week has been great fun but quite challenging as I have been slightly thrown in the deep end with an amazing opportunity to co-present my first ever (and hopefully not last) piece with BBC West. This has involved a trip to the Olympic park and three other days filming in Bath with still some voice overs to add. Actually learning lines rather than just talking about myself has pushed me out of my comfort zone but I have absolutely loved every minute of it.
