Heather Fell, Olympic modern pentathlete silver medalist, writes about her life 'on and off' the track.
MY granny was obviously as popular as I'd suspected; Meavy Church was full for her memorial service on Thursday (and that was with only a few days' notice for people to change their plans).
It certainly was a celebration of her life and I was amazed at what I learnt about granny — it really shows we should spend more time listening to the stories of our older relatives before we miss the opportunity to hear such fascinating tails.
My summer could well consist of four weddings and a funeral; as hopefully I won't have any more funerals to attend and after my second wedding last weekend I still have invites for a further two. It was a marriage of another school friend on Saturday, I think it must be getting close to half of our school year being engaged or married by now, or at least that's what it feels like.
Thankfully this week was a little quieter on the media front with just a short interview for ITV and a phone interview for a magazine. However, I had the chance to be the other side of the microphone when speaking to two West Devon Olympic hopefuls Lucy Wiegersma and Gorgs Geikie. I will be following them along with three other local athletes as part of an 'Olympic Dreams' programme for BBC Radio Devon!
This last week I've spent even more time than usual in my car and a substantial amount of that on the M5, so when I was invited to attend the Cartier polo at Windsor I had to stop and weigh it up. I decided to let the weather decide but I was glad the sun shone as it was a lovely afternoon and the drive was worth it. The only problem being polo is rather well complimented by a glass or two of Pimms, with the Europeans at the end of this week that certainly wasn't an option!
