Heather Fell, Olympic modern pentathlete silver medalist, writes about her life 'on and off' the track.
AFTER months of searching I have at last found one, and now I'm not sure I want one! It's taken a while; I've had to turn down a few whilst being turned down by many.
Lots of questions have been running through my head, will he have lots of annoying habits, can he put up with my love of all things pink... Yes as of tonight I have a lodger! The next few weeks could be quite testing as I've become far too used to my own space, but then again my bank balance will be a little healthier.
I hope no one was late for anything on Sunday morning. I have the change to British Standard Time to thank for not being a whole day early! I packed my bag on Friday night and was ready for my swimming competition the next day. Then I received a message from my friend reminding me we lose an hour's sleep. I couldn't understand the importance of this for the night after the gala. Luckily a few hours later it clicked, I had the wrong day!
I'm fortunate that I have a flexible timetable, but the last few weeks have made me question how 'normal' people manage. I've had to spend several daytime hours restricted to my flat, this week it was waiting for Sky to arrive, then a windscreen repair company, last week was a delivery, before that it was a plumber, carpet cleaner, builder, the list goes on. Maybe a lodger will be useful after all!
