IT has been a busy week spent between Devon, Bath and London, concluding with my first full one-day pentathlon of the year. Considering the hectic week and lack of training due to my toe injury I had an encouraging result. It's now in the hands of the selectors to jiggle the numbers and finalise the first ranking list. Until then I wait with baited breath to see what's in store for my new season.

After my last rather challenging journey to London by car I thought I'd give our 'trusty' public transport another chance. As expenses were covered I had the luxury of avoiding the tube and being driven from the station to location and back. Although travelling from East London across to Paddington by taxi in rush hour may not be a short journey, I appreciated the ease of it, especially after quite a demanding photo shoot.

A big bonus of going by train was to catch up on many emails and calls using my smart phone. So when I got half way to Bath station and realised I'd left without it there was a mini panic and mad rush back to my flat (I could not comprehend more than 24 hours phone-less!). Having used it a little too much, by the time I arrived in Paddington on my return journey the battery was low. Therefore I asked the nearby phone shop if they would kindly charge my phone while I was in a meeting — after much fluttering of the eyelashes they obliged. I stupidly didn't think of asking when they closed. You can imagine the sinking feeling when I walked out to discover the shutters down and lights off! As a result I then had a journey back to Bath not only without an uncharged phone but without a phone at all. Once over the panic I started to plan my next move, unfortunately every idea required at least one feature from my phone. I'm not one who's skilled with technology but even I don't know how I'd cope without it, for example it was thanks to Twitter that I was reunited with my beloved phone; but that's a story for another time!
