DR Chris Ricketts (right) of the University of Plymouth has been awarded a prestigious National Teaching Fellowship by the Higher Education Academy. Widely regarded as the institution's 'assessment guru', he led the university-wide implementation of computer- aided assessment. As director of assessment for the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry, Chris has made significant achievements in developing cutting-edge assessment techniques. Only 50 fellowships are awarded each year, recognising individuals who make an outstanding impact on the student learning experience in universities. Chris will receive £10,000 to be used for his professional development and will collect his award at a special ceremony in London in September. Chris, who lives in Yelverton with his wife, Judy, is chairman of Horrabridge Badminton Club and regularly runs with Stannary Hash House Harriers.
