A NEW volunteer is on hand in Tavistock to give people help and advice about caring for their cats.

Jeremy Rundle, from Tavistock, has taken over the role as the Plymouth Cat Protection volunteer for Tavistock. Tavistock did not have a volunteer locally to offer advice on general cat related matters until Jeremy filled the role a few months ago.

As a cat protection volunteer, Jeremy can offer unbiased advice on neutering and can also offer anyone assisted neutering vouchers, helping towards the cost of having a cat neutered — £20 for males and £26 for females. You do not have to be on any benefits to apply nor any specific age groups, everyone is eligible. To apply for a voucher email Jeremy at [email protected]">[email protected]

Jeremy expressed thanks to a number of businesses in the town after a successful collection for cats in need. He said: 'I would like to thank the generosity of Ron's Pet Supplies and both of the Co-op supermarkets in Tavistock and the staff, for allowing collecting baskets in the stores for food needed to feed stray, abandoned and foster cats — I personally have taken in three cats, two feral and one abandoned.

'I have just made the first collection from these shops and the kindness of the customers who have donated has meant that I was only able to carry away a third of the donations — five carrier bags of food. My sincere thanks and appreciation to the customers who have donated. Your generosity is overwhelming.'
