ANGATA and their amazing music of Mali will be performing at South Zeal Victory Hall tomorrow, Friday at 8pm.
Angata?s music is full of intricate rhythms which are passed between the four musicians in a dynamic performance that will have you tapping your feet and itching to get up and dance.
Using a range of instruments from African xylophone to djembes and hammered dulcimer, they fuse the rich traditions of Malinke drumming and melodies with other musical styles.
Their obvious enthusiasm is infectious and it is wonderful to watch four very talented musicians who enjoy playing together so much.
They delight in communicating their enthusiasm to the audience and they may let you in on the story of how they came to be working together through a chance meeting in London.
Formed three years ago they come from varied backgrounds and have all studied under the master percussionists of Mali and Guinea.
Baba-Kone comes from a long line of master musicians and began playing at the age of four, going with his father to play at celebrations in his local area.
They have performed at Notting Hill Carnival, Edinburgh Festival and across the rest of Europe.
There will be a bar and soft drinks at this event so why not bring the whole family and let your hair down Mali style!
Tickets available from The Store in South Zeal, Sticklepath Stores or telephone Clive 01837 840089.
