TWELVE-year-old Vicky Hinman from Broadbury will be taking on her father Philip at a sheepdog trials in Buckfastleigh next Wednesday.
Hosted by Pennywell Farm and Wildlife Centre and organised by the Devon and Exmoor Sheepdog Society, the all-day sheepdog trials count as a national qualifier.
Vicky, who has had an interest in dogs from a very young age, took up trialling a year ago and has gone from strength-to-strength.
Having recently won a young handlers' award, Vicky will be competing with her eight-year-old dog 'Cap', and father Philip will be competing with the younger 'Tess.'
With four women handlers among the 44 competitors , the day promises to be a fantastic spectacle, set as it is 650ft above sea level. The contestants compete for the first prize of the Pennywell Perpetual Driving Cup and Rendells Tankard.
The open driving course at Pennywell is renowned for being a real test of handlership. Gates open at 9.30am and the first contest begins at 10am.
