A £50,000 INVESTMENT installing new technology in Gunnislake will bring faster and better value broadband to the area.

The upgrade in equipment is part of TalkTalk's national programme to roll out its Next Generation Network (NGN) across the country and this latest investment will also cover Drakewalls, Calstock and Morwell.

The company is spending £25-million nationally and will cover 93% of the country when the roll out is completed later this year.

By installing its own equipment in the local exchange, TalkTalk says it can offer better value services and new products to its customers. The NGN enables speeds of up to 24mb and customers who have recently upgraded to the new network experience an increase in broadband speeds up to 50%.

Superfast Fibre Broadband has also become available in the area, which answers the call for higher bandwidth services such as online streaming content over the internet. It is ideally suited for heavy downloaders and busy households where the whole family wants to be online at the same time, without the broadband slowing down.

In addition to the equipment upgrade TalkTalk has made a further commitment to the area by supporting Gunnislake Cricket Club for a year. The donation has been used to help pay to upgrade the existing practice nets and matting.
