A FASHION evening with a difference took place in Bere Ferrers Church Hall last Friday (November 17) — it was for ladies only. The event was organised to raise money for the new playground equipment in the village recreation field, which is already in use and for which £30,000 has already been raised, but £1,500 is still needed to complete the funding. Two husbands — Dave Gadd and David Mugridge — were allowed in to act as wine waiters and escorts, and approximately 50 ladies enjoyed watching local models strut along the catwalk displaying daytime wear and evening outfits. The owners of Dartmoor Country Clothing, Anne Briggs and Sharron Wilkie, were on hand to offer advice, and villager Helen Smith provided the commentary. Discounts encouraged sales, with pashminas proving particularly popular as presents. Thanks were expressed to Dartmoor Country Clothing, to models Betty Jeffries, Tilly Kelly, Dee McLoughlin, Margaret Willmott and Maggie Pearce and to Lucy Hann for raffle ticket sales.
