THE Lambs failed to capitalise on a fine performance at Edge Down Park, twice taking the lead, only for the hosts to equalise.

The Lambs took the lead in the 30th minute when an off target shot from Martin Sullivan, was recovered by Dan Pethick before it crossed the dead ball line — he then produced a magnificent cross to the far post and Sullivan was on hand to head home.

Then just as if it looked as though the half would end with the Lambs leading, in the dying seconds, George Robertson squared a ball back across the box for Richard Hope to net from close range.

The second period followed a similar pattern with the Lambs having the lion's share of possession. The visitors took the lead in the 60th minute, when Sullivan produced a superb curling shot from 20 yards which gave home keeper Liam Jones no chance as it nestled in the back of the net.

At this stage the Lambs were in complete control and should have extended their lead, but the woodwork denied both Sullivan and Ashley Menhenick from increasing their advantage.

The visitor's continued to dominate, and it was only some good goalkeeping and resolute defending that kept the visitors at bay.

Having not increased their lead Tavistock were punished with 15 minutes remaining when Adam Fowler made a fine run into the visitors' penalty area and rifled home a equaliser past Jamie Blatchford in the visitors' goal.

This was a much better performance from the Lambs, but they will be disappointed not to have taken all three points they deserved.

They must maintain this level of performance in order to pull away from the relegation places.

This week Tavistock visit Cullompton, kick-off 3pm on Saturday. The reserves are at home to Wadebridge Town, kick-off at 2.30pm.
