OKEHAMPTON Cycle Club is hosting a charity fancy dress cycle ride from Okehampton to Lifton Farm cafe on Sunday, December 11.

The charity bike ride will leave from Simmons Park Car Park at 9am and there will be a longer or more direct route available for different cycling abilities.

A collection will be made for Okehampton Community Recreation Association (OCRA) amongst the participants at Lifton Farm.

Nigel Hale-Hunter, of Okehampton Cycle Club, said: ‘We aim to join up with other local clubs including Tavistock wheelers for a fancy dress showdown over tea and cake and I am sure it will make an interesting spectacle on the roads that Sunday morning.

‘New riders are welcome to join the fancy dress cycle ride. We are also planning a charity event where riders race against each other in pairs on static bike — as seen on TV on The Cycle Show.

‘It’s a knockout competition, and we are hoping to hold this on February 4.’
