THE 'Elf' charity Family Dog Show was a great success at Burden Farm, near Okehampton earlier this month.
The show was in aid of Exeter Leukaemia Fund, which supports the haematology department at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
Graham Roe, the organiser of the event, thanked all those who helped make it an enjoyable day for everyone involved.
He was also delighted with the £910 which will be going to ELF.
He said: 'We would like to thank John and Tania Barton for the use of their land, the helpers, the sponsors, raffle prize donators and, above all, the competitors and spectators.'
Sponsorship was provided by Maunder and Sons, Mole Avon Country Stores, North Park veterinary surgery, Vital Pet Products, Castle Pet Supplies and Miller and Son. Farlap Photography awarded a pet portrait to the winner of each class. There was good support from local trade stands.
The dog events started with dog jumping, with the jumping challenge where fences were raised to 2ft 3ins in a fun and competitive event.
The dogs aided their runners by picking up sticks, slipping collars, going under fences, tripping them up, plus deciding the ducks in the water tray were far more interesting. The wellie throwing proved to be popular.
The show was judged by Bryony Herrod-Taylor from North Park vets.
