THE MUSEUM of Dartmoor Life is staging its first exhibition of artwork next month — a show inspired by and about the clay industry on the moor. Margaret Murdoch's 'Memories in a Landscape' features her atmospheric and eerie paintings of the moor, supported by her written reflections of growing up in Broomage, with a father who worked in the clay works. Curator of the museum Maurie Webber said: 'You get a really strong sense from the paintings of Margaret Murdoch's close connection with the moor's dramatic and sometimes odd landscapes.' The exhibition also incorporates photographs, film and audio interviews from others who were part of that clay industry, or lived in its shadow. It will be showing at the museum from April 2-30. An opening event is being held on Monday April 2 from 2-4.30pm.
