THERE was good support from the village and surrounding area in a wide variety of classes at the 31st Kelly and Bradstone annual flower show.
The exhibits of vegetables and fruit on show at Meadwell Hall, Kelly, were excellent considering the current climate. There was a good showing of cakes, handicraft, flower arranging and children's exhibits.
Hall chairman Ray Brewer introduced Wendy and Colin Horrell, who were presented with a posy and buttonhole by Freya Sarkar as they were the guests of honour and presenting the prizes.
Trophy winners: perpetual shield and W I Trophy, Pat Brewer for most points in show; Michael Kelly Trophy, David Buckingham for fruit and vegetables; Stephen Gynn Trophy for best exhibit in show and perpetual cookery cup, Sue Petherwick; best exhibit in floral art and flowers, Estelle Northey; best exhibit in fruit and vegetables for her tomatoes, Chris Young; Little Cup for photography, Jeremy Gallow. Francesca Sarkar also won a cup for her photograph with caption.
A special prize was awarded to Francesca Sarkar for best exhibit in the children's classes.
A new cup this year, in memory of Jill Cole, was awarded to Jean Cory for best exhibit in handicraft.
